The Ultimate List of Manners

Spread the love

As my kids grow, there’s many things I want to teach them. Manners in my opinion are very important although I do agree there are times when manners need to go out the door. Those situations I’ll write about in another post. But for now, I created an ultimate list of manners. Things I want to make sure my kids learn as they grow up.

  • Hold the door open for others.
  • Give up your seat for others
  • Do not get into fights over the phone or text message
  • Say “Excuse Me”
  • Use a Coaster

  • Look at the person who is speaking to you
  • Let someone go in front of you in line
  • Cough or Sneeze into your elbow (Always cover your mouth)

  1. So many of these are getting lost slowly.. So important to share this post with eveyrone. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I’m so glad you posted this. I’ve noticed recently, manners are a thing of the past, and allowing our kids to freely speak their mind without manners is more important. I’m a little old school in that there is a time and place for all that, but manners will never be important! This is a great list and I’ll be sure to mark them down as a reminder to myself that these are non negotiable for kids and adults alike 🙂

  3. Thank you for this list! I’m excited to share it with my son as he gets a little bit older.

  4. Etiquette is one of my children’s school subjects (we homeschool) this year. I’ll refer back to this list, you did such a great job on it!

This is so important. Manners are not taught enough these days!

  6. I love this list! I just wish we had better luck teaching it! One of our children has major challenges with a lot of basic manners because (we now know) of a learning difference, and her sister often seems to think that if the other one does it, it’s ok for her too! We are trying to take the slow/steady long game approach, but it is so hard!

Such a great list! It would be a really checklist to have hanging on the fridge. Luckily my kids learned most of them just by watching how we acted. It is really nice to see my teenagers hold doors open and always say please and thank you. I always get compliments since sadly you don’t see manners these days as much as you used to.

  8. This is a great list – especially to have on hand when you are working on teaching young ones about manners. Definitely going to save this for reference – thanks!
