Things to Teach Our Kids So They Become Better Adults

As the new year approaches I’ve been thinking about what I could do to be a better person. How can I expand my growth further this new year? As I was thinking about this I came across this idea of what makes kids good adults. What do we learn as a child that is necessary to survive as an a loving, caring, successful adult? These are a couple things I think are important for kids to learn and things we should do to teach them as well as things our kids can remind us of as we live day to day.

4 Amazing Gender Neutral Toys

I’ve always been pretty adamant that I try to keep items for my kids as gender neutral as possible. I will buy my daughter dress with flowers on them and I will by my son onesies with Dinosaurs on them because there’s just some things with society that has gender roles so engrained you cannot avoid them. But when at all possible I try to do what I can to teach my children that “boy” toys and “girl” toys are nonsense. So here are some toys that I find are great for gender neutrality.

Am I Done Having Kids?

I thought it would be perfect.

My Belief: Christianity and the Bible

I am and always have been a firm believer in the separation of church and state. I agree that God should be taken out of all secular/governmental oaths, offices, money, the pledge, etc. I do think that this separation is hard for some people though because their stance on moral issues comes from their religion.

My First Year As A Mother

I have been a mother for 14 months. I have an absolutely beautiful and smart little girl. This past year has flown by. There have been good days and bad. There has been utter exhaustion and complete joy. I have to admit right off that bat that becoming a mother is the greatest accomplishment I’ve ever had.

How to Challenge Feminist Misconceptions

Feminism. It has such a negative connotation but many, like myself, consider themselves to be proud feminists. We consider those that say things like, “I’m not a feminist because I believe in equality” as simply ignorant of what feminism truly is. Perhaps though, what is ignorant, is believing that the few represent all. A lot […]

Introduction to Sarah

I have never considered myself as anyone unique or different. I grew up in a middle class family (if you truly consider it that, the line between lower class and middle class is awfully blurred). I am the second to youngest of six kids. I am very privileged by any stretch of the imagination. […]
